Preparation of Development Policies for the Lancang River Basin1999/2000 - Kunming, China Associated Companies: Landcare International, New Zealand Funding Agency: Asian Development Bank Brief DescriptionCPL provided expertise in urban and regional development and contributed to the development of policies aimed at poverty reduction in the river basin and environmentally sustainable development. Particular attention was paid to the implications of development in the river basin in Yunnan Province, on downstream users of the Lancang (Mekong) River. CPL developed the urban component of the regional strategy, emphasizing the role of small rural towns in contributing to increased agricultural productivity and raising rural household incomes as an initial stage of a longer term process of rural industrialization. |
