Brief Description

A major joint program was undertaken with the overall objective of improving urban strategies and urban management in developing countries.  The program aimed to promote the efficient and equitable utilization of resources and to effectively mobilize local governments, the private sector, non-governmental organizations local communities, and individuals in the development process.  The results and conclusions have helped both recipients and donors prepare and implement improved investment programs which contribute to the development of human resources and institution building.  CPL seconded a Director to UNCHS (Habitat), as Team Leader/Urban Land Policy Advisor, to manage the initial phases of this important and far reaching global initiative in the urban and environmental sectors.
